Our story

About Free To Play Puzzles

We build free puzzle and arcade games that load fast, play well on any screen and give you a reason to come back tomorrow.

Why we exist

Free To Play Puzzles started in February 2025 with a simple idea: a good puzzle should be one click away. No app to install, no account to create, no paywall halfway through a grid. You open the page, the game is there, and it works.

A lot of free game sites fall short of that. Games are wrapped in slow players, stretched badly on phones, or abandoned after launch. We wanted to build the site we would actually use ourselves on a lunch break or before bed: quick to load, pleasant to look at, and full of games that are genuinely worth finishing.

What you’ll find here

We currently host 44 free games, organized into collections so you can find the kind of challenge you’re in the mood for:

How we build our games

Every game on the site is built in-house and runs directly in your browser. We don’t embed third-party game players, which means we can control how each game looks, how fast it loads and how it behaves on different devices.

  • Phone and desktop first. We test each game with touch controls on phones and tablets as well as with a mouse and keyboard on desktop. If a game is awkward to play on a small screen, it isn’t finished.
  • Fair daily puzzles. Our daily challenges are generated from the date, so every player in the world gets exactly the same puzzle on the same day. That’s what makes daily leaderboards meaningful.
  • Your progress stays with you. Stats, streaks, personal bests and saved games are kept in your browser, so you can pick up where you left off without signing in.
  • Honest leaderboards. Scores are checked against sensible limits for each game, and we remove entries that are clearly not the result of real play.

Our guides and editorial standards

Alongside the games, our blog has more than 1,000 guides covering rules, strategies, solving techniques and the history of the games we love. We hold that writing to a few straightforward standards:

  • Guides should help you play better, explaining the why behind a technique rather than just listing steps.
  • Claims about the brain and wellbeing should reflect what the research actually supports. Our pages on the cognitive benefits of puzzles and everyday puzzle benefits explain the evidence, including its limits.
  • We don’t invent statistics, quotes or expert endorsements.
  • When we find a mistake, or a reader points one out, we correct it.

What’s free, and how we pay for it

Everything on Free To Play Puzzles is free: every game, every daily puzzle, every leaderboard and every guide. There are no premium tiers and no in-game purchases.

The site is funded by advertising. We place ads around the games and articles rather than on top of the play area, and we avoid formats that interrupt you mid-move. If you ever find an ad that gets in the way of playing, please tell us and we’ll look at it. You can read more about how advertising and cookies work in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
